How to Treat Emerald Ash Borer
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was confirmed to be affecting trees in Minnesota several years ago, and thousands of ash trees around Anoka County and the Twin Cities area have had to be removed because of this infestation. The University of Minnesota Extension web site has a wealth of information about the Emerald Ash Borer, including ways to help identify if your ash tree has been infested with the Emerald Ash Borer - https://extension.umn.edu/tree-and-shrub-insects/emerald-ash-borers.
Can Emerald Ash Borer Be Treated?
Short answer: Yes, if caught very early.
The primary thing to keep in mind with the Emerald Ash Borer is that ash trees do not have a way to defend themselves against the Emerald Ash Borer, and these trees will die if they become infested with this beetle, unless they are aggressively treated with insecticides. Pioneer Tree Service is currently providing ash tree injection for EAB (see photo below).

If EAB is caught early enough, the insecticides treatment may be able to save the ash tree(s) from dying. In general, if the ash tree has lost more than half of its canopy, it is in poor health and treatment most likely will not be effective. The staff at Pioneer Tree Services includes Certified Arborists with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), MN Certified Tree Inspectors and MN Certified Pesticide Applicators, with experience in treating ash trees infected with EAB, and safely removing ash trees to prevent the spread of EAB.
Does Emerald Ash Borer Treatment Work?
Yes, as long as the tree is still relatively healthy. If the ash tree (or ash trees) have lost more than half of their canopy, the trees are most likely in poor health and may not be able to be saved via insecticide treatments. In that case, the best option is to have the dead and dying ash trees removed.
Remove Dead Ash Trees
If there are dead ash trees on your property, the University of Minnesota Extension Service recommends that all ash trees and limbs from ash trees are properly disposed of by a professional arborist and not moved. Moving ash tree limbs or logs that are infected with EAB will only help the spread of the disease.

They did a great job removing several trees and cleaning up the yard. I don't write many reviews, but wanted to give a strong recommendation if anyone is looking for tree services.
